With pad and bike to Feininger's churches
Category:Hotel: Dorint Weimar Am Goethepark
Between 1906 and 1937, the American painter and Weimar Bauhaus master Lyonel Feininger repeatedly traveled to the Weimar region by bike to draw. In the villages around Weimar, he made countless sketches of churches, village views and landscapes, which served as models for his world-famous works of art.
We would like to invite you to follow in Lyonel Feininger's footsteps. Together with a lecturer from the Weimar painting and drawing school, you will set off on the approx. 25 km long Feininger cycle route, which leads from Weimar via the villages of Niedergrunstedt, Gelmeroda, Possendorf, Vollersroda, Mellingen and Oberweimar. During the tour, you will visit the places that Feininger captured in his paintings. Equipped with a sketchbook and pencil or pastel chalks, you can transfer the motifs into your own visual language. The tour ends back in Weimar. In between, you will have a picnic together. The picnic basket will be put together by the hotel.
