Open-air painting in Weimar - 1 day

The picturesque Goethe Park on the River Ilm is not only an inviting place for a stroll or to view the Goethe Garden House; art lovers will also find a place of inspiration and creative work here. Accompany the artist Peter Stechert on his tour through the park.

On the evening before the painting day, you will have the opportunity to make your own pastels and painting surfaces in the nude room of the Weimar Painting and Drawing School.

The following morning, the painting excursion begins at the Weimar Painting and Drawing School. The first stop is the historical motif of the castle bridge in Ilmpark. From there, the tour continues into the quiet regions of the park, where you can devote yourself undisturbed at the easel to motifs such as Goethe's Garden House or the Roman House on the Ilm Arch. You will work with charcoal and pastels. Through intensive observation and perception, you will experience the structure of landscape and architecture: trees, light and shadow, composition of the elements and perspective, proximity and distance.

The short walk ends in the garden of the German Bee Museum Weimar in front of the Feininger motif of the Ilm Bridge in Oberweimar. Here you can stop for a bite to eat in the restaurant of the bee museum. The return journey is made individually through the Ilm Park. Tired painters can also take the public bus to the city center.
